Nandurbar police carried out a major wildlife rescue operation after intercepting illegal transportation of around 300 animals and birds, including foxes and rare parrots. The rescued wildlife was being transported illegally toward Gujarat, and multiple suspects were taken into custody.
Nandurbar district experienced an intense heatwave as temperatures crossed 45°C, prompting authorities to issue heat alerts and advise residents to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities. The severe weather conditions disrupted normal life in several parts of the district.
A huge fire broke out at a textile factory in Navapur MIDC, causing significant property damage and panic in the industrial area. More than 50 workers were safely evacuated as fire teams from nearby districts rushed to control the blaze. The incident also raised questions about industrial fire safety preparedness in the region.
Nashik: Tribal-dominated Nandurbar district emerged as the top performer in the Nashik division by recording a 94.66% pass percentage in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) results declared on Saturday.The Nashik division registered an overall pass percentage of 90.7, ranking fourth in the state after Konkan (94.14%), Pune (91.25%) and Amravati (90.92%). However, the division’s performance marked the lowest pass percentage in the past four years, continuing a downward trend from 94.71% in 2024 and 91.31% in 2025.Out of 1,61,812 students who appeared for the HSC examinations across the division, 1,46,799 cleared the exams in various streams.After Nandurbar, Nashik district stood second with a 93.44% pass rate, followed by Dhule at 89.67% and Jalgaon at 85.08%. In Nashik district alone, 76,748 students appeared for the exam. The pass percentage among girls was significantly higher at 95.8%, compared to 91.3% among boys.Within Nashik district, Trimbakeshwar and Yeola talukas recorded the highest pass percentage at 97.6% each. The pass percentage within Nashik Municipal Corporation limits stood at 93.4%, while Malegaon Municipal Corporation recorded 92.42%.
A major bird flu outbreak in Navapur taluka of Nandurbar district led authorities to cull more than 1.4 lakh birds across multiple poultry farms. Officials intensified surveillance and imposed restrictions on poultry transport to prevent further spread of the virus. The outbreak affected one of the region’s biggest poultry hubs and raised concerns among farmers and traders.
